Driftwood Boatbuilding operates out of a fully mobile shop. Due to Hurricane Katrina losses, it became necessary to become fully mobile. Consequently, that means that our operation can perform on-site, having the heavy shop tools right there.

Efficiency on-site has always been an issue. Heavier shop tools, such as industrial table saws, lathes, drill presses, and industrial planers have never been portable. Therefore, most of the work that these tools tackle was either done by hand, or brought back to the shop. Either way consumes time and efficiency. This is no longer the case.

Another advantage to having a full service shop mobile is having allot of storage available for common items like fasteners, sandpaper, and other consumables. This saves trips to the hardware store, again saving time.

Finally, being able to perform millwork on-site is very valuable. By doing so, you can mill up exactly what you need, rather than milling up more than you need, creating waste, trying to avoid trips back and forth from the shop. The advantages really add up.
